Cate Farone joined Smith-Wright Law as a Legal Intern in the summer of 2018. Since joining, she has played a more significant role in our practice by taking on duties as a legal assistant and paralegal. Farone is a second-year student at Belmont University College of Law, where she is ranked 8th in her class. In her time at Belmont, she has been recognized for her achievement by being named to the Dean’s List, receiving the Bruin Scholarship for full tuition, and the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Legal Information and Communications I. In addition to her academic achievement, she thrives in her university community by being a member of the Women’s Legal Society, Moot Court, and an Associate Editor of the Belmont Law Review.

Cate previously attended Middle Tennessee State University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a Pre-Law conjugate and the Spanish Language, all with University Honors. She graduated in May of 2021, summa cum laude. Her honors and campus engagement at MTSU include being awarded a Buchanan Fellowship, the Honors College Ingram-Montgomery Thesis Award, and the Political Science Meritorious Service Award, and participating in MTSU Mock Trial as a Team Captain and Vice President.

In addition to her time at Smith-Wright Law, she has been active in multiple local organizations such as Read to Succeed and the Hispanic Family Center. Professionally, she also had the opportunity to intern at the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands. Cate is expected to graduate law school in May of 2024 and hopes to practice in Middle Tennessee after earning her degree and passing the bar.
