Smith-Wright to Participate in 15th Annual Historic Places Tour

Smith-Wright is excited to participate in the 15th Annual Historic Places Tour hosted by Historic Lebanon. Smith-Wright’s newly renovated Lebanon office, located at 200 E. Spring Street, is one of the stops along the Tour. The self-guided tour will take participants through several historically significant sites in downtown Lebanon. Tickets are available for purchase at historiclebanon.com.

Smith-Wright’s Lebanon office was originally part of Cumberland University’s old campus in the mid-1800’s. Following the Civil War, Cumberland University was moved to its current location and the office location became Lot #1 of the subdivided former campus. A house was built on the property in 1897. The property was acquired by Dr. Joe Frank Bryant in early 1965. In 1966 Dr. Bryant opened a medical office and pharmacy that his family operated until 2011. The property was also home to Bryant Broadcasting, Inc., call letters WJFB, from 1988 to 2015.

In 2022, the Bryant Building underwent a renovation transforming Dr. Bryant’s medical exam rooms into offices. Several artifacts of Dr. Bryant’s are on display throughout the building, including his medical skeleton, eye exam chart, apothecary jars for gauze, swabs and tongue depressors, and his stethoscope. Also displayed are the TV On Air sign and an old radio in addition to other pictures and artifacts commemorating the history or Wilson County.
